A week on holiday in a self-catering cottage in the Pyrenean foothills with activites planned everyday. Activities will be centered on donkey walks and donkey care, discovering the natural environment and the local way of life. Activities will be adapted depending on the age of the children (suitable for children age 5-12).
This trip is a centre-based holiday (familly cottage) located around the Sauveterre de Comminges village. More than one familly can participate in a given week of activities : each familly can rent its own cottage or decide to share a cottage. Outings are in common (maximum group size of about 15 guests).
Trip details :
Day 1 (Saturday) : guests arrive and settle into their cottages, the guide will be present to help families find their cottage, help with any French interlocutors and provide information about shopping, etc.
Day 2 : round trip with the donkeys to Barbazan lake.
Day 3 : morning – map reading activities for the children, picnic at the tower of Barry treasure hunt with the donkeys.
Day 4 : morning – visit of Saint Bertrand de Comminges, stroll around the medieval village and the Roman ruins. Afternoon : free.
Day 5 : round trip with the donkeys around the hamlets of Sauveterre.
Day 6 : transfer up the Luchon valley and outing in the mountains to see the marmots.
Day 7 : visit of a local cheese farm, lunch at the farm and outing in the mountain forest.
Day 8 : end of the holiday, departure from the cottage (a.m.)
Accomodation :
Four self-catering cottages can be rented in the various hamlets that form Sauveterre de Comminges. All of these cottages are suitable for families (separate bedrooms, gardens), guests may choose between the cottages depending on availability, comfort, size and price.
Catering is not included in the price (except for lunch on day 7). Guests will shop and cater for themselves.

Bear cottage (Gîte de l’Ours) : up to 7 guests, 3 bedrooms, 200m², high season - 580 €/week
Lôo parish cottage : upper floor of a house, up to 6 guests, 3 bedrooms, 82m², high season - 300 €/week
Milk-pot cottage (Le Pot au Lait) in Gesset : 6-7 guests, 3 bedrooms, 140m², high season - 450 € / week
Cottage in Bruncan : up to 6 guests, 3 bedrooms, 120m², 550 €/week
Prices :
Our price includes guiding, donkey hire, transfers by minibus and accomodation (Gîte de l’Ours). The price will vary according to the choice of cottage and cottage availability. The price includes the visit to the cheese farm and to St Bertrand de Comminges. The price does not include flights or any other means of travel to and from the meeting point at the start and end of the holiday. The price does not include meals.
