Self-guided donkey walks

Here is a brief description of the 6 walks that we have prepared for self-guided outings around Sauveterre de Comminges. All of these walks are round trips starting and finishing in the hamlet of Lôo where we live.

- The tower of Barry, 9.5km or 13 km (1/2 day (shorter option) or day trip). The tower of the hamlet of Barry is located on a small hill roght in the middle of the 11 hamlets that form the parish of Sauveterre de Comminges. From the tower you’ll have a great view of the surronding countryside and the Cagire and Gar. peaks. Around the tower is a great spot for picnicking and generally having a lazy time.
- From Payssas and Payssous, 12km. An easy walk with about half of trip on small country lanes, and the other half on easy woodland tracks. A stop at the Régade village viewpoint where you might be able to see some of the high peaks near Luchon if it’s a clear day.
- Barbazan lake, 17km. A pretty round trip passing by the tower of Barry on your way to Barbazan where you’ll be able to relax next to the lake before winding you way back to Lôo.
- The tower of Barry, 6km, a shorter trip for families with children with a picnic next to the tower.
- From foothills to the plane, 15km. Tracks and paths between the foothills of Sauveterre to the Garonne river plane via the villages of Ardiège and Cier-de-Rivière.
- Peyrin, 3km, especially designed for small children. A short loop to do with children on 1/2 day. Tracks and a path in the woods. Picnic table near the end of the walk.

When you rent a donkey, we’ll provide full instructions so that you can find your way easily with a map and a few suggestions to help you drive your donkey.
