Grand canyons somewhere you didn’t expect. Two awesome 1000m deep limestone canyons just south of some of the highest peaks in the Pyrenees. It must just been seen. Stunning scenery along with Spanish weather and food. This region is now a major national park and is a well priviliged spot for sighting "isards" (Pyrenean mountain goats). We’ll also see beautiful old stone villages and get a feeling of local life.
Trip details :
Day 1 : arrival at Toulouse airport and transfer by minibus to the Ordesa / Monte Perdido naitonal park (4.5 hr). Night at a guest house in Nerin.
Day 2 : training hike around old stone villages and mountain landscape.
Day 3 : first major walk up the Anisclo canyon.
Day 4 : transfer to Torla. walk along the Bujaruelo valley.
Day 5 : ascent up the Ordesa canyon and along the Pelay ledge. Night in a mountain hut.
Day 6 : today’s goal : the famous flower ledge, then back down into the valley.
Day 7 : transfer by minibus and ascent of the Castillo Mayor. Night in Bielsa.
Day 8 : Transfer back to Toulouse. End of the trip.
Accomodation :
1 night in a mountain huts. Mountain huts are basic, guests sleep together in dormitories, good hot meals are provided but with no choice (except for vegetarians or speical needs), and most times toilets and washing facilities are very basic (no showers, washbasin with cold water). However you’ll generally find a great atmosphere in these places and friendly people to meet.
5 nights in guest houses (dormitories).
1 night in a hotel in Bielsa (twin rooms).
Porterage : your kit for day outings, except on day 5 and 6 when your back will be slightly heavier (the mountain hut provides blankets). You’ll need a 40 litre bag that’ll weight about 6-7 kg.
Prices :
Our price includes guiding, transfers by minibus, accomodation and meals (dinner on day1 and breakfast on day 8). The price does not include flights or any other means of travel to and from the meeting point at the start and end of the holiday.
